"Jehovah willing" is a phrase that is new to me. I dont really ever recall hearing any one use it around me. I can certainly understand the context in which a JW would say something like that. I can even imagine various "brothers and sisters" using it. Too funny!

I gave the PO a letter tonight
by fullofdoubtnow intonight was the school/service meeting at the kh, and myself and dedpoet drove there at the end of the meeting to see the po.
we didn't go in the hall, we just waited outside the gates for the po to come out, then i handed him my letter, saying it was to get things over with and save the necessity of a jc.
he didn't ask what it was, i think he knew, especially when he saw dp give me the thumbs up sign, but asked me to reconsider, but i said my mind is made up, i am leaving, and i want it out in the open as soon as possible.

too stupid for words
by peacefulpete inok this is one for the books, my wife's great grandmother who is a miraculous 94 year old cervical and ovarian cancer survivor and a 87 year old man from the hall were just counselled on the need for a chaperon!
it seems someone was disturbed that the two were alone in her appartment!
she is practically housebound and his visits to shoot the breeze and talk about the old times were the highlight of her week.

Hey, just remember, it's easy to be critical. If those elders let the 95 year olds to be together unchaperoned then everyone else will throw that in their face. Young teenagers will be saying "well you didn't have a problem with brother X and sister Y spending so much time together!" They've got to draw a line somewhere, dont they?
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines chaperon as follows
Chaperon: n. One, esp. and older woman, who for propriety accompanies young unmarried people in public. v. To act as chaperon to or for.
Unbelievable!

Lets see, what I like about November: colors of leafs and thanksgiving dinner.
What I dont like about November: cold weather, lack of sunshine, raking leaves only to have to rake again two days later, cleaning up after thanksgiving dinner, leaving for work in the morning while its pitch black outside, leaving work for home in the evening while it's pitch black outside (also see lack of sunshine), rain, snow, long underwear, rear wheel drive, drafty windows, heating bill, showers in my cold basement, and did I mention lack of sunshine?
Yeah, I love November!

Can a person get Disfellowshipped for cursing out the elders?
by booker-t ini remember years ago a my cousin was being "harrassed" by the elders in her hall about not going out in field service, being "wild" etc; my cousin was only 20 years old at the time and i think she just wanted to have some fun in her youth.
my aunt who has been a jw's for over 40 years was extremely strict on my young cousin.
i think my cousin just could not take it anymore so when the elders called her in for a committe meeting for the upteen time my cousin told me she just snapped and cursed all four of the elders out.

One time a JW buddy of mine and myself went to his cousin's wedding. We knew it would be a total drag so we decided to get smashed. We started pounding vodka on the way there and by the time we got there we had pretty much accomplised our goal. At that time I had not been to a meeting in a while so it was real interesting trying to have legitimate conversations with everyone about where I had been. I have to say that I had a blast socializing with elders that were more than likely suspicious of me while being inebriated.

Good for you Tall Penguin. That's a great thing to do. You could really make a difference in someone's life and they're luck to have you.
